Sorayya Khan photographIn addition to her novel, NOOR, Sorayya has published in literary journals like The Kenyon Review, The North American Review, and The Asian American Pacific Journal. Her work has been anthologized in several collections, including Bapsi Sidhwa’s recent CITY OF SIN AND SPLENDOR: WRITINGS ON LAHORE. She won a Malahat Review Novella Prize in 1995 for her novella, “In the Shadows of the Margalla Hills,” in a competition judged by Jane Urquhart, Michael Kenyon, and Jack Hodgins. She was a Fulbright Creative Writing Scholar in Pakistan and Bangladesh in 1999-2000. She was born to a Pakistani father and a Dutch mother in Vienna, Austria, has also lived in Islamabad, Pakistan, Meadville, Pennsylvania, Denver, Colorado, Syracuse, New York and now is settled in Ithaca, New York with her husband and two children. Sorayya's new novel, FIVE QUEEN'S ROAD is forthcoming with Penguin India in early 2008. She is currently working on her third novel.
